Duties
- Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other equipment to perform excavation, lifting, and site preparation tasks
- Conduct maintenance, repair, and routine inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
- Assist with underground utility locating and utility trenching for water systems and pipeline installations
- Use hand tools and power tools for assembly, installation, welding, and repair work on construction sites
- Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and climbing to access elevated or confined areas safely
- Follow safety protocols diligently while working with high voltage and low voltage electrical systems; perform fiber splicing as needed
- Maintain clear communication with team members during on-call coverage shifts; support emergency response efforts when required
- Support water system installation projects by operating equipment safely and adhering to all safety standards
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and power tools in a construction environment
- Prior work experience in the energy & utilities sector or related fields involving underground utilities or pipeline projects is highly desirable
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance procedures, and repair techniques for construction machinery
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to high voltage, low voltage electrical systems, underground utilities, and water systems
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper manual handling techniques
- Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions on construction sites with a focus on utility installation or maintenance projects
- Valid commercial truck driving license or ability to obtain one; experience with utility locating is a plus
- Climbing skills for accessing elevated work areas; proficiency with ladder use is necessary
