Summary of Position:
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician job is responsible for monitoring food safety controls, quality attributes, the plant environment and GMPs. The FSQA Technician is responsible for assessing the quality and safety of the product during production. The position conducts quantitative and qualitative checks on product quality, enforces GMPs and reports issues in a timely manner.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Works under frequent supervision of FSQA Supervisor or Lead.
2. Can resolve routine questions and problems.
3. Conduct and document process-checks for food safety and/or quality. FSQA Technician must demonstrate proficiency in using analytical instruments for:
- · pH measurements
- · Temperature readings
- · Color analysis.
- · Solids, consistency, and other quality attributes
4. FSQA Technicians must understand and show proficiency in monitoring and documenting critical food safety checks and how they relate to HACCP, and Preventative Control based Food Safety plans. Examples of such checks include:
- · Metal detector checks
- · Magnet checks
- · Temperature readings
- · pH measurements
5. Conduct sampling. FSQA Technicians must understand and demonstrate aseptic sampling techniques for microbiological.
6. GMP and process area monitoring.
7. Record-keeping. This includes filling out calibration, lot tracking and process monitoring paperwork.
8. Reporting
- A. Report any product that is out of compliance, or deviations to appropriate lead person.
- B. Stop the line if there is a quality or safety issue.
- C. Place product on hold if there is a quality issue.
9. May conduct on the job training.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or related job experience preferred.
· Some agricultural, food processing experience preferred.
· Attention to detail for record-keeping.
· General understanding of manufacturing process and equipment.
· Ability to follow directions.
· At least one year of experience in food processing facility or quality assurance
