We are a private Oncology & Hematology practice in Milford, CT seeking a full time experienced Chemo/Oncology RN to join our team/family. The ideal candidate is required to have infusion and IV experience. Chemotherapy experience is highly preferred but not required. If no chemo experience, the candidate must be willing to learn and show a good understanding of the chemo regimens. As a private practice, we have the ability to train in certain aspects of this position.
Requirements:
- Active RN license in CT
- One year of recent RN oncology infusion experience(preferred but not required)
- Oncology Certified Nurse(OCN) preferred but no required
- Oncology Nurse Society(ONS) Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification preferred or expected to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Ability to perform in an office and clinical setting
- Basic IV skills are required
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to multi-task are required
- Must be passionate about health and patient care
Responsibilities:(but not limited to)
- Coordinate and schedule treatments for all patients
- Evaluate, plan, implement and document care plans
- Mix and administer Chemotherapy and/or other Biomedical medications/treatments/therapies
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted port, place peripheral IVs and maintain central line catheter devices(or capable of learning to do so)
- Perform therapeutic phlebotomies(or capable of learning to do so)
- Triage patient phone calls and document relevant information
- Educate patients/families regarding care plan as well as provide emotional support
- Assess patients and communicate with oncologists on patient care plan
- Assess, communicate, and document any and all changes related to anticoagulation patients
- Obtain required medication prior authorizations per individual insurance plans requirements
