Role Overview
The Business Consultant is responsible for driving growth by managing broker relationships, executing a structured sales process, and increasing both quote volume and closed business. This role requires experience in insurance sales, preferably within a carrier or general agency environment. Success in this position relies on disciplined pipeline management, strong communication, and the ability to build trust with brokers and small business prospects.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Consultant, you will take ownership of broker relationships, prospect engagement, and sales execution to support the continued growth of the OneHealth Plan. Your key responsibilities include:
Team Culture, Engagement, and Reporting
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes by documenting workflows, maintaining and updating SOPs, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and communicating recommendations to leadership.
- Foster strong working relationships across the organization, actively engaging with colleagues to support a collaborative, positive, and team-oriented environment while exemplifying the OneHealth culture and values.
- Provide timely, accurate, and professional reporting to management and leadership, ensuring visibility into key activities, outcomes, and areas of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in OneHealth products, processes, systems, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), serving as a resource to colleagues and helping reinforce best practices across the organization.
CRM and Coordination
- Document all interactions, status updates, and pipeline notes in the CRM
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth handoffs to the implementation team
- Stay organized, responsive, and disciplined across a large and active sales pipeline
Broker Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contracted broker partners
- Identify and develop quoting opportunities within existing broker relationships
- Expand deal flow through your broader professional network
- Recognize competitive quoting situations and drive opportunities to close
- Serve as the primary point of contact for brokers, guiding them through OneHealth processes
Prospect Engagement
- Serve as the initial point of contact for interested small business owners
- Conduct detailed discovery calls to assess needs, budget, and timing
- Address objections and guide prospects through required quoting steps
- Establish trust quickly and clearly communicate next steps
- Proactively troubleshoot issues during sales and implementation stages
Required Qualifications
- Insurance sales experience within a carrier, general agency, or benefits firm
- Deep understanding of small group health insurance products and distribution channels
- Proven success building and managing strong broker relationships
- Strong communication and objection handling skills
- Ability to manage a high volume of opportunities and maintain disciplined follow up
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, including HubSpot
- Strong email organization and ability to manage structured communication
- Software and platform adeptness with the ability to master new systems quickly
- Attention to brand consistency in all communications and presentations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work
- Habit of checking all work thoroughly before completion
- Technically proficient and quick to learn new systems

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $72,000 to $90,000 annually based on experience, with typical sales reps making $130,000 to $150,000 annually
- Uncapped up-front sales bonus compensation
- Quarterly performance based bonuses
