Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to coach the Elementary Cross Country team at Buckhorn School for the upcoming season. This seasonal position involves guiding young athletes in developing their running skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a love for fitness and competition. The ideal candidate will create a positive and encouraging environment that helps students build confidence and achieve their personal bests.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, endurance training, and team-building activities.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program tailored to the age and skill levels of the athletes.
- Organize and supervise participation in cross country meets and races, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding practice schedules, race details, and team expectations.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with school staff and administration to promote the cross country program and enhance student participation.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and individual progress throughout the season.
Requirements
- Previous experience in coaching, sports instruction, or working with children in a school or athletic setting.
- Strong knowledge of cross country running techniques, training methods, and race strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Availability to commit to the entire season, including practices, meets, and any additional team events.
- A passion for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and a positive sports experience for elementary students.
