Columbia Memorial Health is looking for RNs to join our Psychiatric Inpatient team.
The Department of Psychiatry is committed to providing a high quality patient experience through a variety of treatment modalities. We are seeking caring nurses to who want to be part of a dedicated team. Our nurses enjoy 12 hour shifts, flexible scheduling and low staff turnover. We will conduct on site training for you in the Psychiatry Unit if you have not previously worked in Psychiatry before! Come be a part of our caring, dedicated staff today!
The registered nurse works in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
to determine and meet the needs of the patient. The registered nurse has the
primary responsibility and accountability for providing quality care to
patients through the use of the nursing process as reflected in the Standards
of Nursing Practice and in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising
quality care.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure and
- registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the New York State Practice Act and the American Nurses’ Association (ANA) Standards of Nursing Practice.UNIT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- BLS
- Current medical-surgical experience preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years current psychiatric experience preferred

o Computer literacy and/or ability to learn e-mail, order entry at a minimum.

o Complies with all HIPAA regulations
o Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient information
o Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of staff information
o Signs a confidentiality statement and adheres to confidentiality policy of Columbia Memorial Hospital

- Adheres to standard safety practices and job, department, and Columbia Memorial Hospital policies and procedures related to safety.
- Participates in training and development activities in accordance with Columbia Memorial Hospital policies and practices.
- Displays good guest relations and positive attitude toward all visitors, patients and vendors, etc.
- Adheres to infection control and safety practices
- Identifies safety hazards and takes appropriate actions to resolve/report
Professional Growth and Competence:
- Attends all mandatory education in the established time frame.
- Completes annual health requirements.
- Pursues programs of continuing education; participates in educational conferences; and updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills to areas of responsibilities.
Interpersonal Relationships and Professional Conduct:
o Promotes effective interpersonal relationships and maintains professional conduct at all times.
o Fosters team spirit and positive morale through effective communication with all members of the healthcare team.
o Displays positive guest relations and positive attitude toward all hospital staff, visitors, patients, vendors, etc.
Age Specific:
o The nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual has knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the patient group (neonate, pediatric, adolescent or geriatric).
