Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced, dependable Dog Walker & Pet Sitter who is passionate about animals and committed to providing exceptional care.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, loves being outdoors, communicates well, and understands that outstanding customer service is just as important as excellent pet care.
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position with flexible scheduling. Work opportunities are based on client demand, and successful contractors build their schedules by maintaining reliability, professionalism, and excellent relationships with our clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide dog walks, drop-in visits, pet sitting visits, and overnight care.
- Feed pets and administer medications according to detailed care instructions.
- Monitor pets for changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or overall health.
- Complete thorough visit reports through our scheduling app after every visit.
- Take quality photos and provide personalized updates to clients.
- Follow individualized care instructions with attention to detail.
- Keep client homes clean, secure, and respected at all times.
- Maintain prompt communication with clients and team members.
- Represent The Colorado Paws Pack professionally during every interaction.
- Work collaboratively with teammates to ensure seamless care for shared clients.
What We're Looking For
Our ideal contractor is someone who:
- Has previous professional pet care experience (pet sitting, veterinary, boarding, daycare, grooming, rescue, or similar).
- Is comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes, cats, and other household pets.
- Has experience administering medications or is willing to learn.
- Is calm, confident, and patient with shy, nervous, senior, or high-energy pets.
- Is dependable and follows through on commitments.
- Pays close attention to detail and follows care instructions exactly.
- Communicates professionally with clients and teammates.
- Is trustworthy, self-motivated, and enjoys working independently.
- Wants to build long-term relationships with both pets and their owners.
Availability Requirements
Pet care doesn't stop on weekends or holidays, and neither do we.
Applicants should have consistent availability and be willing to work:
- Weekdays
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Morning visits
- Midday visits
- Evening visits
- Occasional overnight stays
Flexibility is one of the most important qualities we're looking for.
Independent Contractor Expectations

Requirements
- Minimum 18 years old
- Professional pet care experience preferred
- Reliable vehicle with proof of insurance
- Valid driver's license
- Smartphone with reliable internet access
- Ability to pass a background check
- Comfortable using scheduling and messaging apps
- Ability to walk several miles daily in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Live in or near Colorado Springs
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional pet sitting experience
- Veterinary clinic experience
- Veterinary assistant or technician experience
- Animal shelter or rescue experience
- Dog daycare or boarding experience
- Dog training experience
- Pet CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience administering oral, topical, injectable, or insulin medications
- Experience caring for senior or special-needs pets
