Beacon Emergency Veterinary Hospital is building the nursing team for our new 24/7 Land O’ Lakes hospital, and we are looking for experienced veterinary nurses and technicians who want more than a place to clock in. At Beacon, nurses are trusted clinical partners. You will be involved in the full spectrum of emergency care, including triage and stabilization, critical inpatient nursing, outpatient treatment, surgical and sedated procedures, transfusion medicine, diagnostics, and ongoing management of hospitalized patients. You will work alongside doctors who value your observations, your judgment, and your ability to recognize when something is changing before it becomes obvious.
You do not need to arrive knowing every procedure or protocol we use. We will train for specific skills. What we need is a strong medical foundation, confidence caring for sick patients, sound clinical judgment, and previous emergency or critical care experience.
CVT/LVT credentials are valued and compensated appropriately but are not required for this role.
The Role
Beacon nurses are active participants in patient care. You will work closely with our doctors to assess patients, recognize changes in clinical status, anticipate patient needs, communicate concerns, and help guide cases efficiently through the hospital.
This role may include:
- Triage and stabilization of emergency patients
- Outpatient emergency nursing and treatment
- Inpatient care for stable and critically ill hospitalized patients
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Medication administration and fluid therapy
- Oxygen therapy and monitoring of respiratory patients
- Blood and plasma transfusion administration and monitoring
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthesia and sedation monitoring
- Recovery and post-operative nursing care
- Assisting with endoscopy and other sedated procedures
- In-house laboratory testing
- Digital radiography and diagnostic imaging
- Assisting with ultrasound and other advanced diagnostics
- Responding to STAT situations and assisting with CPR
- Recognizing subtle changes in patient condition and communicating them promptly
- Maintaining accurate treatment sheets and medical records
- Reviewing treatment plans, estimates, medications, and discharge instructions with pet owners
- Managing multiple patients and priorities during a busy ER shift

Schedule
Beacon is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Full-time nurses typically work three 12-hour shifts per week. All shifts are currently available, and team members should have the flexibility to rotate through days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on hospital needs.
We are especially interested in experienced candidates who may prefer overnight shifts, but flexibility across the full schedule is important for this role.
Compensation within the posted range is based on ER experience, credentials, demonstrated clinical skills, and schedule availability.

Physical Requirements
This is an active clinical position requiring frequent standing, bending, lifting, and animal restraint. Team members must be able to safely assist with patients weighing more than 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
