We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher specializing in Air Freight to join our logistics team. Duties
- Coordinate with airlines, freight carriers, and internal teams to schedule and dispatch air freight shipments efficiently.
- Utilize transportation management systems to plan routes, track shipments, and update delivery statuses in real-time.
- Manage multi-line phone systems to handle inquiries from clients, carriers, and internal departments with professionalism and clarity.
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards during all dispatch activities.
- Enter accurate shipment data into logistics software, maintain detailed records of freight movements, and generate reports for analysis.
- Communicate proactively with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers via phone calls or internal communication platforms to coordinate pickup, delivery, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for route optimization and real-time vehicle tracking to enhance transportation planning.
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring proper documentation, freight handling, and adherence to shipping schedules.
- Support fleet management by tracking vehicle maintenance schedules and dispatching vehicles accordingly for road transportation operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, managing expectations, and resolving issues efficiently.
Qualifications
- 5 year plus experience with air freight cargo.
- Proven experience in dispatching within air freight or logistics environments; familiarity with airport airlines operations is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management or similar platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS tools, vehicle dispatch software, and fleet management systems.
- Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on phone etiquette and internal communication protocols.
- Ability to analyze logistical data to optimize routes and improve dispatch efficiency.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations governing air freight transportation safety standards.
- Strong typing skills for accurate data entry; experience with transportation management or logistics software is highly desirable.
