Position Summary
Direct Care Staff are responsible for providing daily supervision, care, guidance, and support to youth residing in the group home. Staff are expected to ensure the safety, well-being, and development of each resident while maintaining a structured, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Education, or a related field preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with youth, adolescents, foster care, behavioral health, juvenile justice, or residential care preferred.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass state and federal criminal background checks, fingerprinting, and any required drug screening.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
- Must complete all required state pre-service and annual training.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and positive youth development.
- Ability to supervise youth in a residential setting while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict using approved crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of child abuse reporting requirements and mandated reporter responsibilities.
- Ability to complete daily logs, incident reports, medication documentation (if assigned), and other required records accurately and on time.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays as scheduled.
Essential Duties
- Supervise and ensure the safety of youth at all times.
- Implement daily schedules, routines, and recreational activities.
- Assist residents with life skills, personal hygiene, homework, and independent living skills.
- Transport youth to school, medical appointments, court appearances, and community activities as needed.
- Administer medications only if trained and authorized.
- Prepare meals and maintain a clean, safe living environment.
- Document resident behavior, incidents, and progress according to agency policy.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate effectively with supervisors and service providers.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral crises.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and actively participate in youth activities.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergencies and crisis situations.
Preferred Certifications
- CPR/First Aid
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent de-escalation training
- Medication Administration Training
- Defensive Driving Certification
- Trauma-Informed Care Training

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
