Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Fitness Director to lead our fitness programs and inspire our community to achieve their health and wellness goals. The Fitness Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, growth, and operation of the fitness programs and facilities at Kitsap Tennis & Athletic Center (KTAC). This position oversees fitness staff, personal training services, group exercise programs, member engagement, equipment maintenance, wellness initiatives, and revenue generation. The Fitness Director will create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment that supports KTAC's mission of promoting health, wellness, and community engagement.

CERTIFICATIONS
Fitness Instructor (Group Exercise Instructor)· Current CPR/AED Certification· A nationally recognized Group Fitness Instructor Certification, such as:o American Council on Exercise (ACE Group Fitness Instructor)o Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA Group Fitness Instructor)o National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM Group Fitness Instructor)Personal Trainer· Current CPR/AED Certification· A nationally accredited Personal Trainer Certification, such as: National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)o American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)o American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainero National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT)Must maintain all required certifications and continuing education requirements necessary to keep certifications active throughout employment.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience teaching fitness classes and working with diverse populations
- Knowledge of exercise safety, equipment use, and member engagement
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fitness leadership or management experience. Experience supervising fitness professionals and personal trainers. Demonstrated success in program development, staff management, and member engagement. Experience in a nonprofit, community recreation, athletic club, or fitness center environment is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to demonstrate exercises and proper fitness techniques. Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to respond quickly and effectively during emergencies.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20–29 hours per week. Schedule may vary based on operational needs and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Flexibility is required to support fitness programming, staff supervision, and special events.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
