Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical equipment, supplies, and sterile fields are ready and maintained according to infection control protocols.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical specimens with precision.
- Monitor patient vital signs continuously during surgery, responding swiftly to any changes in physiology or critical care needs.
- Administer medications including anesthesia agents, IV infusions, and pain management treatments while adhering to hospital policies and safety standards.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), including medical documentation, medication administration, and procedural notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and post-anesthesia care providers to ensure seamless patient transitions before and after surgery.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent infections; manage sterile processing of surgical instruments and supplies efficiently.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration; experience working in an operating room setting is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical terminology and ICD coding is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing, and infection control practices essential for safe surgical environments.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, trauma patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Critical care experience such as ICU or Level I/II trauma center background is desirable; familiarity with cardiac catheterization procedures or ophthalmology surgeries is a plus.
- Ability to perform complex tasks like suturing, venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertion, ventilator management, and tube feeding support when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessments and collaboration within high-pressure environments like emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
Pay: $2,200.00 - $2,500.00 per week
