We are seeking a self motivated, organized, eager to learn team player to join our staff. We are a small practice with one provider at this point, nestled in a serene location. Many of our patients are seasonal, which translates into being busier during the summer months.
Must be meticulous, thorough, and able to follow through on the job responsibilities.
Applicants should be licensed either as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, LPN, or RN. The position involves patient care, rooming patients, scribing for the physician, assisting in surgeries and procedures, calling patients with results and answering patient phone calls. At this point, there is one physician and an aesthetician as well as a scheduler. We value a cohesive environment and supportive teamwork.
Must be punctual and able to focus on the task at hand without unnecessarily distracting other staff.
Responsibilities
- Accurate charting and documentation in the electronic medical record system which includes scribing while in the patient's room
- Rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, and performing patient intakes
- Assisting during medical examinations and with dermatologic procedures, including biopsies and surgeries
- Answering patient phone calls and electronic messages
- Calling patients with pathology results per provider direction
- Managing cancer logs and ensuring patients followup for their scheduled skin exams
- Managing prior authorizations
- Cleaning and stocking exam rooms; maintaining inventory of medical supplies
- Sterilizing instruments
- Scheduling appointments
- Supporting daily clinic flow through effective multitasking and attention to detail
- Producing and distributing correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Other responsibilities as the need arises
Qualifications:
- Medical assistant experience preferred (dermatology experience would be preferred, but not necessary for a fast learner)
- Willingness to learn
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in patient management software and ability to learn new software systems
- Degree in medical assistance, nursing assistance, or nurse
