The Opportunity
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of large-scale power generation and industrial electrical construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, General Foremen, customers, and engineering teams, this role is responsible for coordinating technical information, managing project documentation, supporting procurement activities, resolving field issues, and assisting with commissioning and turnover efforts.
What You’ll Do
Project Execution
- Support project teams in the planning and execution of electrical construction activities.
- Track and manage engineering deliverables, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate construction requirements between customers, engineers, vendors, and field operations.
Technical & Field Support
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to support field execution.
- Assist in identifying and resolving design conflicts, constructability issues, and installation challenges.
- Support field supervision with technical questions and coordination efforts.
- Verify installed work complies with project requirements and specifications.
Procurement & Material Management
- Coordinate procurement of equipment and materials required for project execution.
- Track long-lead equipment and critical material deliveries.
- Review vendor submittals and equipment documentation.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Support implementation of project QA/QC requirements.
- Assist with inspections, testing documentation, and quality records when applicable.
- Coordinate turnover packages and completion documentation.
Commissioning & Startup
- Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Coordinate testing schedules and vendor support.
- Assist with energization planning and turnover to the owner.
Safety Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture and support project safety initiatives.
- Participate in site audits, planning meetings, and safety reviews.
- Ensure work activities are performed in compliance with project safety requirements.
What You’ll Contribute
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting industrial, power, utility, or large commercial electrical construction projects.
- Working knowledge of electrical construction means and methods.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and electrical one-line diagrams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on:
- Combined Cycle Power Plants
- Gas-Fired Generation Facilities
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Heavy Industrial Facilities
- Knowledge of NEC, NETA, NFPA, and IEEE standards.
- Experience using Bluebeam, Procore, BIM platforms, or other project management software.
- Electrical construction field experience.
Desired Skills
- Strong understanding of power plant and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to coordinate across engineering, construction, vendor, and customer teams.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communication in both office and field environments.
