Home Helpers Home Care
Providing services in Durham, Chapel Hill, NW Raleigh, Carrboro, and Pittsboro, NC
Internal title: Director of Clinical Services (RN) — part-time, flexible, with a clear path to full-time clinical leadership as we grow.
A Different Kind of RN Role
Are you a registered nurse who misses meaningful clinical work — but not the grind of a full-time schedule? Home Helpers Home Care of Durham & Chapel Hill is a new, locally owned agency (still awaiting licensure) specializing in care for clients living with Parkinson's disease, PSP, and other movement disorders. We are looking for an experienced RN to serve as our clinical leader from day one.
At launch, this role is approximately 5–10 hours per week, largely self-scheduled. It is an ideal fit for a semi-retired nurse, an RN consultant, nursing faculty, or an experienced home care nurse seeking a meaningful part-time commitment. As our census grows, the role grows with it — on your timeline or ours, whichever fits.
Our NC DHSR license application is in its final stage, with approval expected within weeks. You would join at the ground floor and shape our clinical programs, caregiver training, and quality standards from the very beginning.
What You'll Do
- Conduct initial in-home client assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Match caregivers to client cases based on assessed needs and qualifications
- Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and performance support to caregivers
- Lead caregiver competency validation and contribute to hiring decisions
- Ensure compliance with NC DHSR home care regulations (10A NCAC 13J)
- Maintain accurate client records and conduct quarterly record reviews
- Serve as a trusted clinical presence with clients, families, and referral partners
Schedule & Flexibility
Most of this work is self-scheduled — you set your own administrative hours, and client assessments are arranged around mutual availability. Because we serve families when they need us, occasional assessments fall on an evening or weekend, typically scheduled with advance notice. If you are currently employed elsewhere or easing back from retirement, this role is designed to fit around your life.
Work is a mix of field-based visits (client homes in the Durham/Chapel Hill area) and remote administrative work in WellSky, with in-person attendance for orientations, interviews, and occasional operational meetings.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- 2+ years of experience in home care, home health, or a related community-based setting
- Experience supervising clinical staff or managing healthcare operations
- Familiar with
- Strong clinical assessment, care planning, and documentation skills
- Experience with ensuring compliance with NC DHSR home care regulations (10A NCAC 13J)
- Comfortable with (or quick to learn) digital care platforms — WellSky experience is a plus
- Valid NC driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle
A strong fit if you are:
- A semi-retired, consultant, or part-time RN who wants meaningful work on a flexible schedule
- Energized by building something from the ground up rather than inheriting someone else's systems
- A natural relationship-builder with clients, families, and care teams
- Drawn to our specialty in Parkinson's, PSP, and movement disorder care
Compensation
$40 - $55 per hour, commensurate with experience, with hours and responsibility growing alongside our census. A clear path to a full-time salaried leadership role is available for a candidate who wants it — but is not required.
