About the Role
We are a growing organization that operates a family of companies spanning manufacturing, distribution, and service industries. We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller / Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the books and records across all of our entities.
This is a high-ownership, fast-paced role for someone who thrives on variety and can move fluidly between businesses with very different operating models. The right person is highly organized, detail-driven, and able to shift gears at a moment’s notice as priorities change throughout the day. If you want a single-ledger desk job with a fixed routine, this is not it. If you want to run a complete accounting function across several real operating businesses, we would like to hear from you.
What You will Do
- Own full-cycle accounting for multiple legal entities, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, and accurate, timely financial statements on both a per-entity and consolidated basis.
- Manage cost accounting, inventory, and work-in-process for the manufacturing and distribution businesses, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Handle job/project costing, billing, and revenue recognition for the service-side businesses.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, cash management, and banking relationships across all entities.
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions and maintain clean, audit-ready records.
- Coordinate payroll, sales/use tax, and the supporting schedules needed for tax filings; serve as primary liaison to external accountants and auditors.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and continuously improve accounting processes and systems as the companies grow.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis for ownership and the CFO—and re-prioritize quickly as new needs arise.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a strong plus.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager.
- Direct experience with manufacturing and/or distribution accounting—inventory, cost accounting, and WIP—is essential.
- Multi-entity / multi-company accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong ERP and accounting-system skills, with advanced Excel proficiency.
- A proven ability to juggle competing demands across several businesses and re-prioritize on the fly without dropping the ball.
- Excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and the discretion to handle confidential financial information.
Schedule & Location
This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Hauppauge, NY office. Reliable in-office presence is required; this role is not eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $100,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the breadth of entities the role supports.
