Camp Courageous is seeking a Respite Director to lead and grow our established weekend respite program serving children and adults with disabilities.
This year-round leadership position oversees 23 weekend respite sessions annually, serving approximately 20-30 campers per weekend. The Respite Director is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining respite staff and volunteers while supporting individuals with disabilities and their families through quality respite services.
The Respite Director reports to the Program Director and serves as a member of the Program Leadership Team.

Program Overview
- 23 weekend respite sessions annually
- Approximately 20-30 campers per weekend
- Approximately 8 respite staff members
- Clinical volunteer rotations
- Individual volunteers
- Family support and caregiver respite opportunities
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee weekend respite services
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and retain respite staff
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers
- Coordinate clinical volunteer rotations
- Support individuals with disabilities and their families
- Develop and grow respite programming
- Collaborate with the Program Director and Program Leadership Team
- Maintain high-quality participant experiences and program operations
- Build relationships with families, staff, volunteers, and community partners
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, Special Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field
- Minimum one year of professional experience supporting individuals with disabilities
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or programs
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Three or more years of disability-services experience
- Experience with respite services, residential services, therapeutic recreation, camp programming, day services, or waiver-funded services

This position focuses on leading and growing weekend respite services and family support programming. It is not a weeklong summer camp leadership position.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
