Job Summary:
The Merchant Coordinator role will be part of the Supply Chain team and will be based out of our St. Louis, MO office. The purpose of this position is to create a positive internal and external customer experience while acting as a coordinator to link merchandising, origination, transportation, and accounting. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the merchants with sales, purchase and trading activities to include entering and pricing contracts, creating load orders and schedules, aligning supply to our plants, organizing logistics, building reports and analytics, and general support functions to the merchandising team.
This position is the key point of contact between our merchant team members and other functions within the Corn Milling business, and a vital link to our customers. The Merchant Coordinator is also responsible for various projects and continuous process improvements as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist and help execute and manage corn purchase and byproduct sales contracts
· Review existing GTC orders daily
· Compare Futures trades vs. the Broker statement to ensure all totals agree
· Enter futures trades in Tru Grain and balance positions
· Answer and make calls to vendors and customers; provide a positive customer experience
· Populate product sales and corn trades on our hedge position to assist our risk management/hedge desk
· Run and email daily position related reports, including PBI, manual reports, cost card, open contract reports, and other analytical reporting
· Manage corn truck and rail settlements and grain accounting tasks
· Execute futures exchanges through call and/or email to our clearinghouse
· Provide basic contractual and pricing info to our farmers by mill and corn types
· Assist in management/organization of our specialty corn programs including regen, hybrid specific, and organization of specialty corn positions
· Back up for grain accounting and merchants when someone is out of the office
· Assist the Feed Sales manager with invoicing, schedules/logistics, contract management and reporting, and other miscellaneous duties
· Manage new vendor and customer set up in systems, and update account info as required
Other Possible Duties May Include:
· Assist corn buyers and staff with grain purchases from growers and commercials to maximize origination through team communication and execution
· Eventually enter GTC orders on live pricing platforms and work up to entering live orders
· Work with the Transportation/Rail department to improve processes and run analysis
· Assist our prime product sales and sales management team as needed
Qualifications
· Basic Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Tru Grain and Oracle based tech experience would be helpful but not mandatory
· Willingness to learn and ask questions
· Strong communication and people skills with all levels, using different styles
· Proactive in problem-solving, creating solutions and process improvements
· 3-5 years’ experience in customer service, logistics or related work
· Multi-tasking and time management is a must
· Be able to handle stress
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
This position is contingent upon successfully passing Grain Craft’s background screening, physical (if applicable) and drug-screening. Grain Craft maintains that we are a drug-free company on all levels.
