Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently operating various types of heavy equipment, including sit down forklifts & stand up forklifts to facilitate the safe and accurate movement of goods within the warehouse. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth shipping, receiving, and materials handling operations. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical knowledge, warehouse experience, and a commitment to safety standards to support our operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to load and unload shipments with precision and safety.
- Perform order picking using RF scanners and other warehouse management systems to fulfill customer orders accurately.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Assist in shipping and receiving activities by verifying inventory counts and documenting movements.
- Conduct routine inspections of heavy equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Support warehouse distribution tasks by organizing storage areas and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Follow OSHA safety guidelines diligently during all operations to promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize materials handling processes and improve workflow efficiency.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and assist maintenance teams when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of inventory movements, equipment usage, and safety checks.
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or construction setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving procedures, and materials handling.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for order picking and inventory control.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting on heavy machinery.
- Experience with heavy lifting techniques and proper load securing methods.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior experience in warehouse supervisor roles or warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members across various departments.
