Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks and flatbed vehicles to recover, transport, and load disabled or damaged commercial trucks and trailers following cargo securement protocols
- Perform automotive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions (including manual transmissions), and other vehicle systems to ensure optimal performance
- Load and unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or other mechanical tools
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on tow trucks, ensuring all vehicle mechanics are in top condition for safe operation
- Follow cargo securement protocols meticulously during transport to prevent accidents or damage
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining repair needs, and managing expectations professionally
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance logs, incident reports, and shift activities for accountability and compliance
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics and automotive repair techniques for trucks and trailers
- Proficiency in operating tow trucks, flatbeds, forklifts, and other heavy-duty equipment safely
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and commercial driving with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics specific to truck drivers’ needs and cargo securement protocols
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently using diagnostic tools
- Excellent conflict management skills to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Customer service-oriented mindset with clear communication skills
- Physical ability to load/unload cargo, perform vehicle inspections, and operate heavy machinery effectively
