POSITION OVERVIEW
=========================================
S&S Precision is seeking a skilled intermediate-level CNC Machinist / Operator to support our expanding Machine Shop and Fabrication department. In this role, you will perform machine setups independently, operate HAAS CNC equipment, inspect parts to tight tolerances, and assist with basic troubleshooting. Our shop utilizes HAAS CNC Mills, a HAAS Mini-Mill, a HAAS CNC Lathe, and PTC Creo for CAD/CAM programming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- MACHINE SETUPS: Perform complete setups on CNC Mills and CNC Lathes, including loading tools, setting work offsets, verifying programs, and ensuring proper work holding.
- EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Safely and efficiently operate CNC machines to produce high-quality parts matching strict engineering blueprints.
- PRECISION QUALITY CONTROL: Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges to maintain tight tolerances, typically within (+/–) .001” or tighter.
- TROUBLESHOOTING: Identify machining issues (tool wear, poor surface finishes, holding inconsistencies) and communicate findings to senior machinists or engineers.
- COLLABORATION: Assist engineers with prototypes, fixturing adjustments, and maintaining setup sheets.
- SAFETY & UPKEEP: Follow quality control procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
=========================================
- EXPERIENCE: 3–5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience operating CNC Mills and Lathes.
- INDEPENDENCE: Proven experience performing part setups with minimal supervision.
- BLUEPRINT READING: Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and CAD models.
- TECHNICAL SKILLS: Familiarity with tool offsets, work coordinate systems, speeds/feeds, and basic geometry/trigonometry.
- SOFTWARE: Basic understanding of CAD/CAM workflows; exposure to PTC Creo is preferred but not required. Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- PHYSICAL ABILITY: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift/maneuver 50 lbs.
