Gunter Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to support our project management team by overseeing project financials, billing, subcontractor compliance, and project accounting activities. The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands the financial and compliance requirements.
MUST HAVE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities
- Set up approved subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders in Foundation Software.
- Generate and process accurate monthly project billings.
- Manage subcontractor compliance, including insurance, bonds, lien waivers, and billing documentation.
- Investigate and reconcile unbilled project costs.
- Monitor project costs and assist with job cost tracking.
- Prepare and submit lien waivers for projects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage collections for assigned projects.
- Maintain accurate project files and financial records.
- Assist with project closeout, financial reporting, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Accounting, and Operations to ensure project success.
Qualifications
Required
- Construction industry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent accounting experience.
- Experience with project accounting and job costing.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Experience with subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and construction billing.
- Knowledge commercial construction accounting.
