Cat Cafe Coordinator
Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary | Chapel Hill, North Carolina
About Beautiful Together
Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing animals who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned and giving them the comprehensive care they deserve. We extend that care through programs that bring rescued animals, children, and our community together – building empathy, supporting mental health, and giving every animal the love and socialization they need to thrive.
Located on 83 beautiful acres in Chapel Hill, our sanctuary is a welcoming community destination, and our unique Beautiful Together Cat Cafe offers a peaceful, thoughtfully-designed, large lounge environment with floor-to-ceiling windows, along with separate meeting rooms (with cats, of course!), where guests can enjoy a beverage, spend meaningful time with adoptable rescue cats, attend a private party or meeting, and potentially meet a new family member.
We are seeking a warm, organized, and deeply compassionate Cat Cafe Coordinator to help ensure that the cafe is always welcoming, beautifully maintained, and operating smoothly for both our cats and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests, manage check-ins, explain cafe guidelines, answer questions, and create a warm, memorable visitor experience.
- Closely monitor the cats’ comfort, behavior, health, and interactions throughout the day (we have an on-site vet clinic if there are ever concerns noted).
- Maintain a clean, calm, attractive, and well-organized cafe environment.
- Manage reservations and booking software for visits, parties, meetings, and private events.
- Learn the personalities of the cats and help visitors connect with them safely and thoughtfully.
- Support adoption efforts by sharing information about available cats, explaining the adoption process, and helping to coordinate adoptions with our Rescue Cat Team
- Monitor and track all Cat Cafe supplies and inventory, proactively ordering or requesting replacements as needed to ensure the cafe remains fully stocked and prepared for daily operations, visitors, and events.
- Assist with small party and event coordination, setup, guest care, beverage service, cleanup, and resetting the space (larger events are managed by our Events Coordination Manager).
- Welcome, guide, and work alongside multiple Cat Cafe volunteers.
- Serve beverages and help maintain cafe, retail, and visitor supplies.
- Respond to visitor questions and help guests learn more about adoption, volunteering, donating, events, and other ways to support Beautiful Together.
- Communicate any animal health, behavior, safety, facility, or supply concerns to the appropriate team member.
What We Are Looking For
The right person for this role will be:
- Naturally friendly, welcoming, and comfortable engaging with new people.
- Deeply compassionate toward cats, with a genuine soft spot for the emotional and physical wellbeing of rescue cats
- Highly organized, proactive, and an excellent communicator, with the ability to manage several priorities at once.
- Consistently dependable, with a proven track record of reliability, follow-through, and showing up as scheduled. This is an absolute requirement for the role.
- Comfortable working with families, children, adopters, volunteers, donors, and community members.
- Calm and professional in a busy or occasionally unpredictable environment.
- Comfortable using booking software, email, social media, and basic payment systems.
- Comfortable cleaning litter boxes, addressing animal-related messes, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Able to work independently while also being a collaborative and supportive team member.
- Excited to represent Beautiful Together and help visitors feel connected to our mission.
Knowledge of feline body language and low-stress cat handling is a plus, but animal behavior training will be provided, as well as onsite training of our specific systems, procedures, and expectations.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, take the stairs, bend, clean, and remain active throughout a shift.
- Ability to safely lift approximately 30 pounds.
