The Wellington Public Library is seeking applicants that are passionate about connecting with the community by providing resources and access for all people to explore, support, and expand their lifetime learning. We are looking for applicants with an innovative mindset to continue growing and building our library system, explore ways to increase engagement of our town and residents, and continue expanding our patronage.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Library Director, the Library Clerk performs a wide variety of library duties and interfaces with patrons to provide library services while maintaining a welcoming and accessible library space. The library is open mornings, afternoons, and evenings Monday through Saturday. The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday but may occasionally vary based on business needs. This is a full time, benefit eligible position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Interface with patrons in rendering public and technical library services.
- Perform circulation and service desk duties; use an automated system to check out and check in library materials.
- Always maintain professionalism regarding patron and data privacy.
- Register new borrowers and issues library cards; provide reference service in the assigned department using standard reference sources.
- Assist patrons by furnishing information about books, authors, and publishers; interpret and resolve questions regarding library circulation policies; receive refunds, reconcile cash, and prepare cash receipt reports.
- Order and maintain records for library books and materials; assist in routine cataloging of library books and materials.
- Assist in monitoring circulation scheduling to ensure proper coverage.
- Work with the Library Programs Administrator to ensure cohesion between circulation and programming.
- Act as point of contact for circulation information and updates.
- Assist in developing and attending events or programs both internally and externally.
- Create and manage creative and relevant displays of new books and/or media material.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including computer software, tablets, scanners, photocopiers, and printers; and perform related duties as required.
- Maintains a dependable work ethic by showing up on time, maintaining focus while working, completing tasks as assigned and expected, and taking responsibility and accountability for outcomes
- Required Saturday shift.
- Other duties as assigned or developed.

- Dewey Decimal system.
- Library database software.
- Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment, including computers and their operating systems.
- Filing methods and recordkeeping to maintain accurate information in alphabetical, chronological, and/or numerical order, and standard library clerical practices.
· General human and world knowledge, including the arts, sciences, literature, history, and geography.

MINIMUM QUAIFICATIONS:

- Library work experience
- Customer Service experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent reaching, sitting, standing, walking, talking, seeing, hearing and manual dexterity
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds
- Work is typically performed inside an office setting; however, outside duties are required at times
- Concentrate on and complete tasks in an environment with distractions
- Continuous and repetitive movement, including hand-eye movement
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Must pass criminal history check.
· Must participate in direct deposit.
