Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Class A Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. As a Class A Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and commercial trucks to transport freight across various routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Your expertise in handling refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment will ensure timely and secure deliveries. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks, across designated routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes and ensure on-time deliveries
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper cargo handling and securing hazardous or dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations
- Transport automobile parts or other specialized cargo via over-the-road (OTR) routes, maintaining the integrity of the load throughout transit
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, maintenance checks, and safety procedures before and after trips to guarantee vehicle reliability and compliance with safety standards
- Document delivery activities accurately, including logs of hours driven, cargo details, and delivery confirmations
- Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, truck loading/unloading, and hazardous materials transportation
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery driving
- Proficiency operating various truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazard materials regulations, and safety standards for hazardous goods transportation
- Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems on long-distance routes
- Skilled in manual transmission driving with experience handling manual handling tasks during loading/unloading processes
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures for freight including dangerous goods and freight security measures
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements as needed for hazmat or tanker loads
