BUYER - POSITION SUMMARY
The Buyer is an integral part of a close-knit team that reports to the Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing team buys after-market parts (post-sale), for end users (commercial and military customers) across North America.
While most of the work is driven by system prompts (Infor ERP), and email communication, the Buyer must be comfortable calling customers and vendors, working collaboratively internally and externally, towards being proactive, vs. 100% reactive.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Issue and maintain purchase orders (50+/day) according to MRP demand and incoming requisitions.
· Analyze and update MRP for demand and adjust orders according to real needs.
· React to System Exception messages and take necessary actions to avoid production shortages, over ordering, or excessive inventory.
· Manage vendor warranty claims and Return to Vendor activities.
· Manage Inventory for assigned parts.
· Work with inter-departmental Managers to evaluate Supplier Ratings regularly.
· Use your influence with vendors on price, ETA, and volume.
· Manage Purchase Price Variants on a regular basis.
· Maintain clear, professional and efficient communication.
· Coordinate meetings, prepare and present materials.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred; will consider the equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 3+ years of Regional purchasing experience, preferably in international manufacturing or distribution.
· APICS certification preferred.
· Experience with ERP (Infor a plus)
· Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
· Negotiation skills and the ability to influence outcomes with suppliers/vendors.
· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel at an intermediate level.
COMPETENCIES:
· Experience with ERP Purchasing Systems, and the related tariff implications.
· Prioritization. With competing and changing priorities, Buyers respond to each order based on priority level, availability, and price.
· Diplomacy & Negotiation – price, availability
· Communication skills (email, phone and in-person)
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
