The Working Masonry Foreman is responsible for supervising and actively participating in all phases of masonry construction projects. This position leads a crew of masons and laborers while performing hands-on masonry work, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards, plans, and specifications. The foreman serves as the primary on-site leader, maintaining quality workmanship and fostering a productive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, direct, and motivate masonry crews on commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.
- Perform hands-on masonry work including laying brick, block, and other masonry materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
- Ensure that projects meet quality standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project managers and superintendents.
- Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and craftsmanship.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members on proper masonry techniques and safe work practices.
- Coordinate with other trades to maintain project schedules and minimize conflicts.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and properly maintained.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, and production logs.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Identify and resolve field issues quickly to minimize project delays.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Perform the duties of the primary competent person for the crew.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of masonry journeyman (Experience in a lead role preferred.)
- Extensive knowledge of brick, block, and concrete masonry construction methods.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate masonry-related tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Working Conditions
- Outdoor construction environments with exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise.
- Occasional overtime, weekends, and travel to various job sites as project demands require.
