WHAT WE’LL NEED
The Sr. Systems Engineer will play a critical role in designing, building, maintaining, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of the company’s systems, storage, and Corporate Azure cloud infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring underlying systems, storage platforms, applications, Corporate Azure cloud services, and enterprise infrastructure remain highly available and operational 24x7 to support the evolving business needs of the organization.
This role includes leading the administration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of server, storage, and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure while ensuring associated patching, backup, disaster recovery, and maintenance activities are completed in accordance with established change management processes, policies, standards, and operational best practices. The Sr. Systems Engineer will also provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, driving operational efficiencies, and implementing enterprise-level infrastructure solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments.
The Sr. Systems Engineer will additionally be responsible for supporting and managing core Azure services, including virtual infrastructure, networking, storage, identity, governance, and security services within the Corporate Azure environment. This includes administration and support of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), identity lifecycle management, conditional access policies, role-based access controls (RBAC), hybrid identity integration, and authentication services to ensure secure and scalable enterprise access management.
In addition, the Sr. Systems Engineer will play a key role in infrastructure strategy, capacity planning, and technology roadmap initiatives to support organizational growth. This includes contributing to infrastructure modernization efforts, datacenter and cloud expansion activities, scalability planning, disaster recovery readiness, and future-state architecture initiatives planned for 2026 and beyond.
Lead the administration, optimization, and support of the enterprise infrastructure environment, including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, backup and replication systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Corporate Azure cloud services, Microsoft 365/O365, Exchange, SQL, Intune, SSRS, and other supporting SaaS and internally hosted applications within a hybrid cloud environment.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms while driving continuous improvement initiatives and infrastructure modernization efforts.
Serve as a senior technical resource for complex infrastructure troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and issue resolution for business-critical systems and services.
Lead and participate in change management activities related to corporate infrastructure systems and services, ensuring all regulatory and governance-driven infrastructure changes are properly documented, reviewed, approved, tested, and implemented in accordance with established policies, standards, and operational procedures.
Develop, implement, and maintain infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities, including establishing key operational metrics and health indicators to provide visibility into the performance, availability, capacity, and reliability of Wingstop’s systems, storage, and Corporate Azure cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT and business teams to support infrastructure initiatives, technology projects, security remediation efforts, system integrations, and operational support requirements.
Contribute to infrastructure architecture, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and future-state technology roadmap initiatives, including datacenter optimization and Corporate Azure cloud expansion strategies.
Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, support documentation, and technical specifications. Ensure infrastructure updates, configuration changes, and environment modifications are properly tracked through revision and governance processes.
Provide operational support and participate in escalation and on-call activities as needed to respond to critical incidents, infrastructure outages, and high-priority alerts to ensure maximum uptime, resiliency, and availability of business-critical systems and services.
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff by providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and operational best practices to help improve team capabilities and technical maturity.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent combination of advanced technical experience and education will be considered.

10+ years of progressive experience designing, administering, and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including systems, storage, virtualization, identity management, and hybrid cloud technologies.

Proven experience operating within enterprise-scale, highly available, and regulated IT environments supporting mission-critical systems and services.

Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure initiatives, technology modernization projects, and operational improvement efforts across on-premises and cloud platforms.
Certifications

Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator, MCSE, MCSA, or equivalent industry certifications preferred.

Additional certifications related to virtualization, storage, backup, security, or cloud platforms are considered a plus (VMware, Veeam, Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft, AWS, ITIL, etc.).
Technical Skills & Expertise

Extensive experience with enterprise infrastructure technologies including Windows Server, virtualization platforms, enterprise storage systems, networking, backup and disaster recovery platforms, and hybrid cloud environments.

Strong experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure and Corporate Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, monitoring, governance, RBAC, security, and cost optimization.

Advanced experience managing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), hybrid identity environments, conditional access policies, identity governance, MFA, SSO, and directory synchronization technologies.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365/O365, Exchange Online, Intune, SQL Server, SSRS, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related enterprise technologies.

Experience with enterprise storage solutions utilizing Fiber Channel SAN infrastructure and associated replication technologies.

Experience implementing and supporting enterprise backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions within regulated and audit-compliant environments.

Strong understanding of infrastructure monitoring, system performance optimization, capacity planning, and security best practices.

Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell or similar tools preferred.

Strong understanding of change management, governance, compliance, and operational processes within enterprise IT organizations.
