Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing material handling equipment (MHE) and facility systems within the Distribution Center. This role requires strong mechanical and technical trade skills to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
Success in this role is measured by equipment uptime, quality of repairs, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues that impact operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facility systems to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain and repair building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and basic plumbing components.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA and hazardous material handling requirements.
- Support proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable guidelines.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs or services.
- Support facility operations, including housekeeping standards, grounds maintenance, and sustainability efforts.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and operational needs to minimize disruption.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade training strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or similar technical role preferred.
- Electrical certification strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and equipment repair.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and equipment troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with maintenance tracking systems (CMMS) is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work, including bending, kneeling, and working on machinery.
