Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant with billing responsibilities, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care while managing essential administrative and billing tasks. Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, patient intake, and assisting with procedures in diverse medical environments including dermatology, emergency medicine, and inpatient units.
- Conduct phlebotomy and assist with X-ray procedures to support diagnostic processes.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Support patient care by providing excellent service, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
- Handle billing procedures by coding diagnoses (ICD coding), processing insurance claims, and managing accounts receivable with precision.
- Maintain medical records in compliance with privacy regulations and ensure all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Assist in hospital or clinic management tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and coordinating follow-up care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar medical office support role within outpatient or hospital settings.
- Knowledge of dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics, and medical-surgical practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management tools.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray procedures, and emergency medicine protocols is advantageous.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately across diverse populations.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers; inpatient experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes including coding accuracy for insurance reimbursement; familiarity with hospital or clinic billing software is preferred.
