POSITION: High School Biology TeacherThe successful candidate will possess the appropriate Massachusetts Educator's License and SEI endorsement.Job Description: Under the direction of the School Principal, the High School Biology Teacher assesses, plans, and provides engaging learning experiences in biology for students in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating a dynamic and inclusive science classroom that fosters curiosity, scientific inquiry, and critical thinking. The teacher ensures that students develop a strong understanding of biological concepts including cellular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and human biology while developing laboratory and analytical skills. Mahar Regional policies and effective instructional practices.The High School Biology Teacher also demonstrates the ability to provide positive behavioral support to students in a group and in an individual setting; demonstrates an understanding of the federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of special education services; completes observations and reports pertaining to learning behaviors of students; displays the ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents and community members. Teach core biological concepts including cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, andhuman biology.
Design and facilitate laboratory investigations that promote scientific inquiry andexperimentation. Differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs and academic abilities. Integrate technology, scientific modeling, and real-world applications into classroominstruction. Promote critical thinking, problem solving, and data analysis skills throughinquiry-based learning.
Preference will be given to candidates with the knowledge, background, and ability to teach Chemistry and other upper-level high school science courses.Laboratory & Classroom Management Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom and laboratory environment that supports active student engagement. Ensure proper safety procedures and protocols are followed during laboratory activities. Maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and inventory. Establish clear classroom expectations and procedures that promote responsible student behavior.Assessment & Student Support Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding.
Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions. Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with families. Implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs and 504 plans.Collaboration & Professional Development Collaborate with colleagues and department staff to support curriculum development and alignment. Participate in professional development, department meetings, and curriculum planning initiatives.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress. Support interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide programs.Compliance & School Responsibilities Adhere to state and district policies, including grading practices, assessment procedures, and accommodations for students with IEPs and 504 plans. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data. Fulfill assigned duties such as supervising students during school events, lunch, arrival, or dismissal as required.

Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications. Possess knowledge and demonstrate understanding of all required components of the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Possess the SEI RETELL Endorsement for Educators (ELL). Be skilled with G-Suite for Education.
Hold a current Massachusetts Teaching License in Biology, Grades 812.Physical Requirement: Position requires light work exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, and/or ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move objects. Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination/mind-eye coordination; intermittent keyboarding and telephoning. Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Possession of a valid drivers license.POSITION OPEN: 2026-2027 School Year SALARY: $48,018 - $103,482 depending on experience
