Duties
- Coordinate and dispatch trucks efficiently using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and AS400.
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone call management.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries aligned with supply chain requirements.
- Manage freight schedules, shipping & receiving processes, and ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Maintain accurate data entry related to dispatch activities, vehicle logs, and delivery documentation using tools like SyteLine and Microsoft Office.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to plan transportation strategies, analyze operational data, and improve overall road transportation efficiency.
- Handle internal communication channels effectively to coordinate dispatching tasks, resolve issues promptly, and support fleet management initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in transportation planning, dispatching, or logistics operations within a supply chain environment.
- Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, freight management, and vehicle dispatch software such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or Vehicle Dispatch Software.
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS tracking systems, and transportation management tools like Oracle Transportation Management or AS400.
- Excellent communication skills with phone etiquette expertise for managing multi-line phone systems and customer interactions.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting; proficiency in data entry and typing is essential.
- Understanding of DOT regulations and shipping & receiving procedures to ensure compliance across all dispatch activities.
- Ability to analyze operational data for continuous improvement initiatives; experience with analysis tools is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with proactive internal communication to address issues swiftly.
