Topeka ER & Hospital is in need of a full-time, ED Registered Nurse whose role will be crucial in providing immediate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions or emergencies.
Shifts Available: 12-hour shift
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments and psychosocial evaluations of patients when they arrive, determining the severity of their condition.
- Triage: Assign triage categories to ensure timely care based on the urgency of each patient's condition.
- Emergency Care: Provide care to patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adults, and geriatrics, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately while adhering to the five rights of medication administration (right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time).
- Supervision: Oversee the work of support staff such as Emergency Room Technicians (ERTs) and other healthcare personnel, ensuring a collaborative and efficient workflow.
- Patient Advocacy: Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining procedures and treatment plans to provide emotional support and education.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Infection Control: Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment to prevent infection and promote patient safety.
- Continuous Education: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities, attending staff meetings, and engaging in quality improvement initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Two years of emergency room experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners for their state.
- Current BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC preferred.
- Educational requirements appropriate for meeting the age-specific needs of patients presenting to the emergency center, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, including emergency procedures required for stabilizing patients of all ages.
- Validate clinical skills outlined in the orientation checklist and maintain annual clinical competency.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
