Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Chef to lead the kitchen of our small Italian restaurant. The ideal candidate is passionate about Italian cooking, values fresh and seasonal ingredients, and enjoys working in a close-knit restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute high-quality Italian dishes with consistency and attention to detail.
- Develop and maintain seasonal menus featuring classic Italian flavors and techniques.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and closing procedures.
- Maintain consistent standards for taste, presentation, portion size, and food quality.
- Order ingredients and manage relationships with vendors.
- Monitor food costs, inventory, waste, and portion control.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and kitchen labor levels.
- Train, supervise, and support cooks and kitchen staff.
- Create prep lists and organize the kitchen for efficient service.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen.
- Work closely with restaurant management and front-of-house staff to provide an excellent guest experience.
- Assist with specials, private events, and seasonal menu changes.
Qualifications
- Previous professional kitchen experience, preferably in Italian or Mediterranean cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of Italian ingredients, flavors, and traditional cooking techniques.
- Experience with pasta, sauces, meats, seafood, vegetables, and seasonal dishes.
- Ability to lead a small team while remaining actively involved in cooking and service.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Understanding of food and labor cost management.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining high standards.
- Food handler/food safety certification as required by local regulations.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
