Duties
- Administer general, regional, and obstetric anesthesia tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring optimal pain management and safety.
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and physiology evaluation to determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
- Monitor patients continuously during procedures using advanced medical equipment and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems, adjusting anesthesia levels as needed.
- Manage airway maintenance and ventilation support during surgical procedures, responding promptly to airway or cardiovascular emergencies.
- Collaborate with surgical team to develop perioperative care plans aligned with hospital policies and NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) standards.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, nursing policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, and infection prevention protocols while documenting all medical procedures accurately.
- Respond effectively to cardiovascular emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory distress, implementing life support measures including Basic Life Support (BLS) and advanced resuscitation techniques.
- Administer medications and injections safely while adhering to medication administration protocols and medical terminology standards.
- Maintain proficiency in medical equipment operation, patient monitoring devices, and Epic/EHR systems for seamless documentation and communication.
- Support patient safety measures by implementing infection control practices, monitoring vital signs diligently, and ensuring proper nursing procedure compliance throughout all phases of care.
Experience
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or hospital settings with a focus on perioperative or anesthesiology services.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics, with specialized knowledge in obstetric anesthesia when applicable.
- Strong background in airway management techniques, regional anesthesia procedures, pain management strategies, and cardiovascular emergency response.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention protocols, medical documentation standards, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prior experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Epic for accurate patient record keeping; hospital experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology related to anesthesia practice, along with adherence to nursing policy compliance and state nursing practice acts.
- Ability to respond swiftly during medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure using advanced resuscitation skills.
