Women’s Outerwear Designer
We are seeking a talented and creative Women’s Outerwear Designer to help design and develop licensed women’s outerwear collections for Rebecca Minkoff, Jason Wu, and Buffalo David Bitton.
The ideal candidate has a strong eye for silhouette, color, fabric, trims, and garment details, with an understanding of current women’s fashion trends and the ability to interpret the unique DNA of each brand while developing commercially relevant outerwear.
Location: New York City area — candidates must be based in the NYC metropolitan area
Compensation: $85,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience
Responsibilities
- Design and develop women’s outerwear across our licensed brands, including jackets, coats and real time fashion-driven outerwear
- Research seasonal trends, colors, fabrics, trims, and silhouettes
- Create original concepts, sketches, technical flats, spec sheets and colorways
- Interpret and maintain the individual aesthetic and identity of each licensed brand
- Use AI and digital design tools to create realistic garment imagery, explore design concepts, and develop colorways
- Create professional lookbooks, line sheets, and collection presentations
- Work with existing garment images and design concepts to create polished visual presentations
- Create and update technical flats and design specifications
- Report directly to the Creative Director and collaborate with the licensed brand managers throughout the design and development process
- Make design revisions quickly and accurately based on feedback
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in women’s apparel design, with outerwear experience strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Proficiency with AI image-generation and AI-assisted fashion design tools
- Ability to use AI to create professional-quality fashion imagery, lookbooks, line sheets, and presentations
- Strong understanding of garment construction, proportion, fit, color, and fabrication
- Strong technical flat and presentation skills
- Knowledge of current contemporary and luxury women’s fashion trends
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively
- Must be based in the NYC metropolitan area
Experience designing women’s jackets, coats, technical outerwear, vintage-inspired outerwear, or elevated casualwear is a strong plus.
PORTFOLIO REQUIRED
Applicants must submit a portfolio to be considered. Applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
Portfolio should demonstrate relevant women’s fashion design work, including technical flats and collection development. Examples demonstrating the use of AI in fashion design, imagery, lookbooks, line sheets, or presentations are highly encouraged.
