PDP Supplier Quality Engineer – John Deere Horicon Works This is a high-visibility 1+ year contract opportunity paying up to $39/hr, including 1 week of PTO. Operating onsite in Horicon, WI on a standard 1st shift schedule, this role places you at the critical intersection of product development (PDP), current production, service parts, and supplier performance. You will facilitate cross-functional quality development, conduct risk assessments, drive 8D corrective actions, and execute robust quality plans across key supplier commodities.
Position Details & Compensation
- Pay Rate: Up to $39/hr (W2).
- Location: Onsite at John Deere Horicon Works (Horicon, WI).
- Duration: 1+ Year contract assignment (With standard corporate extension pathways).
- Shift & Hours: 1st Shift, Monday – Friday.

Core Responsibilities
- Quality Planning & PDP Execution: Lead Quality Planning Activities for assigned commodities across PDP programs, current production, service parts, continuous improvement (CI), and value improvement (VI) projects.
- Cross-Functional Facilitation: Guide multi-functional teams through quality-related development tools, including DPARs, FMEAs, Control Plans, design reviews, risk assessments, and supplier audits.
- Supplier Problem Resolution & 8D: Identify, communicate, and resolve supplier quality bottlenecks; lead structured 8D corrective action processes for PDP and production issues.
- Quality Process Management: Ensure robust execution of Returned Goods Authorizations (RGAs), Supplier Change Requests (SCRs), quality plans, and targeted supplier improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- Industry & Functional Experience: 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, or supply management within a design/manufacturing environment.
- Core Quality Toolkit: Hands-on experience with standard quality tools, including FMEA, NCCA (Non-Conformance Corrective Action), SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Data & Technical Literacy: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, product models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience using statistical analysis and data gathering techniques to isolate root causes.
- Leadership & Autonomy: Strong organizational and facilitation skills with the proven ability to set priorities and lead initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial/Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical work experience.
What Makes You Stand Out
- 2+ years of hands-on experience practicing Supplier Audits, DPARs, and formal Design Reviews.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of SAP-PAG and SAP-PDM.
- Audit experience (e.g., JDS-G223, Process Verification Audits, Special Process Audits).
- Direct experience with Riding Lawn Equipment (RLE) or Utility Vehicle (UV) production processes.
- Background in Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
