Pay: $18–$23 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill
Big Joe's Grille is looking for an experienced, well-rounded cook who knows their way around a professional kitchen and takes pride in the food they put through the window.
We are not looking for someone who can only work one station. We are looking for a dependable kitchen professional who can become an important part of our team and grow with us.
The right candidate should be comfortable working multiple stations, maintaining quality during high-volume service, following recipes and standards, and communicating effectively with the rest of the kitchen.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of professional restaurant kitchen experience preferred
- Strong experience on grill, sauté, fryer and/or prep
- Ability to properly cook steaks and proteins to temperature
- Experience preparing seafood, chicken and other proteins
- Good knife skills and basic food preparation knowledge
- Ability to read and consistently execute recipes
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, FIFO and proper food storage
- Ability to properly portion product and minimize unnecessary food waste
- Ability to organize and maintain a clean station
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dinner service
- Dependable, punctual and able to communicate with the team
- Willing to learn other stations instead of being limited to one position
- Available for evenings and weekends
What Makes Someone Worth the Top of Our Pay Range?
The upper end of our pay range is reserved for experienced cooks who can demonstrate the ability to:
- Independently operate multiple stations
- Execute steaks, seafood and entrées consistently
- Maintain ticket times without sacrificing quality
- Stay organized during high-volume service
- Assist with prep and production
- Recognize quality and portion-control issues
- Help train and develop less-experienced kitchen employees
- Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and expo
- Step up and help lead the line when needed
Experience matters—but demonstrated ability matters more.
Compensation
$18–$23/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill level.
Candidates will be considered based on their experience, versatility, reliability and ability to perform in our kitchen.
Qualified finalists may be invited to complete a paid working interview before a final starting wage is determined.
