Duties
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and behavior management to ensure safety during examinations and procedures
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as IV insertion, medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and equipment through thorough cleaning and sanitation
- Help with animal husbandry activities including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health status
- Record detailed patient information, treatment notes, and laboratory results accurately in medical records
- Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures by ensuring proper positioning and restraint
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, post-operative care, and clinic policies
- Assist in laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and basic testing to support diagnostics
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience preferred; strong animal handling skills required
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior essential for effective support
- Experience with dog handling, equine care, or animal restraint techniques highly desirable
- Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols
- Competence in record keeping, medication administration, and aseptic techniques necessary for clinical support
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members in a professional manner
- A proactive attitude with a passion for animal welfare and a desire to learn more about veterinary medicine
