Residential Service Craftsman
Location: Chesapeake, VA (work performed at residential project sites throughout the area)
Schneider Construction is seeking a highly skilled Residential Service Craftsman to support the completion and ongoing care of our high-performance custom homes. This role is responsible for resolving punch list items, service work, and detailed repairs across active and completed projects. The ideal candidate is a versatile craftsman with pride in workmanship, capable of performing a wide range of construction tasks while maintaining the quality standards expected in high-end homes. This position operates independently in the field and works closely with our Service Manager to ensure all work is completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
Responsibilities:
- Complete final punch list work on newly constructed homes prior to client turnover
- Address detailed finish items, including trim, drywall, paint touch-ups, cabinetry adjustments, and hardware installation
- Ensure homes meet Schneider Construction's quality standards before final delivery
- Perform post-construction service and warranty work in completed homes
- Diagnose and resolve minor issues related to doors, windows, trim, drywall, fixtures, and finishes
- Execute repairs professionally while working in occupied homes
- Perform a wide variety of construction tasks, including: finish carpentry, drywall repair, paint correction, hardware adjustments, minor plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting
- Maintain a high level of craftsmanship consistent with high-end custom homes
- Operate independently in the field using a company vehicle or service truck
- Communicate progress and job completion with the Service Manager
- Maintain an organized work vehicle and proper tools for a wide range of service tasks
- Represent Schneider Construction professionally when working inside client homes
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with homeowners when needed
- Maintain a clean and respectful work environment inside occupied residences
Qualifications:
- 7 or more years of residential construction experience
- Strong background in finish carpentry, remodeling, or custom home construction
- Proven ability to perform a wide range of construction tasks independently
- Finish carpentry and trim work
- Drywall repair and finishing
- Paint touch-ups and finish corrections
- Door and window adjustments
- Cabinet and millwork adjustments
- Minor plumbing or electrical troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail
- Pride in high-quality workmanship
- Ability to complete work to a professional finish standard
Work Style

- Able to work independently and manage time effectively
- Comfortable working inside occupied homes
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift and carry construction materials and tools

Compensation:
- Full-time, W-2 position
- Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience.
