Salary:
- Training Probation period (Weeks 1–6): $16.00 per hour
- Post-Probation Rate: Up to $18.50 per hour (Based on performance, meeting all core requirements, and successfully executing all duties outlined in this listing)
Schedule:
- Weekdays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Holiday Availability: Open on all major industry holidays. Must be available to work holidays even if they fall on a Sunday (Holiday pay is provided).
Locations: Dual-site oversight (Philadelphia, PA & Maple Shade, NJ)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and long-term Assistant Manager to supervise shop activity and manage daily operations across our Philadelphia, PA, and Maple Shade, NJ locations. We are looking for a true go-getter—someone who is exceptionally self-motivated, takes immediate initiative, and thrives in a bustling retail environment.In this pivotal role, you will lead daily store operations, foster a positive customer experience, and support the development of our sales team. Your energetic leadership will ensure smooth store functioning, effective inventory management, and exceptional service delivery. We need a proactive problem-solver and team player who can communicate seamlessly with ownership and delegate duties effectively to team members.

Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Manage opening/closing procedures, cash registers, POS systems, driver dispatch, and smooth order transfers between sites. Ensure operational efficiency across all daily store functions.
- Team Leadership & HR (At the Request of Management): Assist ownership and upper management with staffing needs by creating weekly work schedules and managing time-off requests. At the request of management, coordinate recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates, onboarding new hires, conducting orientations, running training sessions, and executing formal performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team.
- Customer Service & Sales Success: Supervise and motivate retail staff to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding service. Assist clients via phone, professional email, and in person. Conduct detailed consultations for weddings, funerals, and special events. Address inquiries promptly and resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Floral Care & Quality Control: Process incoming flowers, maintain fresh stock, and design beautiful bouquets and centerpieces. Ensure every product passes a strict quality control check prior to packing.
- Inventory & Merchandising: Track stock levels for flowers and supplies. Oversee inventory control, stock replenishment, merchandising, and pricing strategies to maximize sales opportunities. Update website pricing and availability.
- Admin, Finance & Operations Reporting: Report directly to management on a weekly basis regarding store process improvement concerns and product/service quality improvements. Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, invoicing via QuickBooks, and manage store budgets. Perform standard bank runs, coordinate logistics, split fresh flower shipments between locations, and perform deliveries using the company vehicle.
Job Requirements & Skills
- Mindset: A proven "go-getter" attitude with a strong sense of personal accountability, analytical thinking for problem-solving, and an eagerness to optimize operations.
- Experience: Preferred experience in retail management or assistant manager roles with direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Mobility & License: A valid Driver’s License is strictly required to travel between shop locations and drive the company vehicle.
- Availability: Consistent availability to work Monday through Saturday and during standard shop hours and on industrial holidays even if they fall on a Sunday (Holiday pay is provided).
- Holiday Commitment: Must work all major industry holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day) even if they fall on a Sunday. (Holiday pay is provided).
- Technical & Operational Knowledge: Proficiency in Google Drive (Sheets, Forms), Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks. Comprehensive knowledge of POS systems, inventory management software, purchasing procedures, and retail math principles (basic math proficiency for cash handling and bookkeeping).
- Communication & Soft Skills: Strong negotiation skills, excellent phone etiquette, and managerial communication abilities. Skilled at organizing thoughts to present clear operational feedback to ownership. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Language Capabilities: Multilingual or bilingual capabilities are highly desirable (but not required) to help us serve our diverse customer bases across both locations.
- Documentation: Must provide valid eligibility documentation for employment in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
- Paid Time Off (PTO): Eligible after 1 year of employment in good standing. To support our busy team, time-off requests are scheduled in advance around our peak seasonal blackout dates and approved based on shop staffing needs.
