JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Center Supervisor, employee will be responsible for the day-to-day center activities as set forth by the Head Start while following all Head Start Standards, Tribal and Federal regulations. The teacher is responsible for creating a learning environment that is linguistically, culturally, and educational rich.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- A Baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a Baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with the experience teaching preschool-age children
DUTIES/RESPONSIBLILTIES
- Monitor safety and manage behavior of children (classroom, bus, playground, etc.)
- Prepare and teach weekly lesson plan based on children's individual required skill development, promoting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Set up environment (indoor/outdoor) for the activities of the day
- Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with groups and individuals
- Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization and choice making; ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers
- Supervise teacher assistant and teacher aide and give guidance in the area of children’s individual development
- Plan monthly field trips to enhance current topic of study
- Document on-going observations on children, to determine their individual strengths and needs
- Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom
- Attend parent meetings, home visits, parent /teacher conferences as required
- Be a willing participant in tribal functions as needed
- Other duties as may be assigned
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $44,950.00 - $62,000.00 per year
