Job Overview

Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure proper documentation of medication administration
- Support residents during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating when needed, and encouraging healthy eating habits
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfer of residents requiring heavy lifting or mobility assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols in accordance with healthcare standards
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including memory care strategies for dementia or Alzheimer’s patients
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Observe patient behavior closely for signs of distress or deterioration, including those with autism or other developmental disabilities, ensuring prompt response when necessary
- Document all care activities thoroughly while respecting residents’ privacy and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and vital signs measurement
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and hospice or end-of-life support practices
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid confidently; certification preferred but not required upon hiring
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Experience with patient observation techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
- Capable of heavy lifting and physical assistance using equipment like Hoyer lifts safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately while maintaining flexibility for changing needs
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of sensitive health information
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience when working with seniors or individuals experiencing cognitive impairments
- Basic housekeeping skills including cleaning routines essential for maintaining a hygienic living environment
