JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Power System Operator, you're responsible for the safe operation of the distribution system and transmission system. This position identifies and initiates corrective action as needed in a timely manner to optimize operating conditions including service restoration procedures while working under minimal supervision.
Work Expectations
- The position is in a diverse work group operating 24-hours a day through rotating shifts
- Rotating shifts: 12-hour hitch Days & Nights currently 7/7 (will move to 14/14 in the future)
- Be flexible and adaptable
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the system is operated within established company loading and safety guidelines
- Assists in the direction of distribution service restoration procedures to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner
- Assists in monitoring load and initiates communications to field for load abnormalities on facilities to ensure proper load flow and adequate voltage levels under direct supervision
- Maintains a daily log on all events occurring on the distribution system to assist in future operation of the system, developing a history to assist in planning and design of facilities, and complying with regulations
- Handles all alarming aspects from related equipment and dispatches field team to minimize downtime and production
- Assists in the preparation of work clearances on distribution lines and substation equipment to assure safety to employees
- Participates and completes assigned training activities
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in a power distribution role or other related experience
- Possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and inclusive manner
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Effective communications with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office products
Preferred:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or greater in an electrically related field
- Distribution Operations and/or Distribution field experience
- Craft Advancement Progression Skills (CAPS) or Distribution Lineman Training (DLT) certification
- Previous power utility control room operator experience
- Experience with Aspen Tech Monarch SCADA
Role Details:
Location: Spring, Texas
Schedule: 7/7, rotating days and nights, 12 hour shifts
Pay: $65.00-$75.00/ Hr
Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
