About the position
The Community Mental Health Worker role at Mujeres Latinas Empowering Women focuses on supporting families in the South Broward County area by connecting them to services that address trauma and related challenges. The position requires a strong understanding of trauma-affected populations and the ability to promote wellness within the community. Candidates must be passionate about community service and willing to engage in ongoing training and development.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 15-20 families per 4-6 month cycle, providing direct engagement, referrals, assessments, and advocacy support.
- Conduct strength-based needs assessments and collaboratively develop Resource Maps (Eco Maps) with youth and families, ensuring ongoing updates and usage.
- Facilitate “warm transfers” by directly connecting families with community resources, confirming service availability, providing introductions, and following up to ensure successful linkages.
- Develop and maintain a strong community connection and understanding of populations experiencing trauma.
- Help develop and execute community-focused events.
- Communicate with program staff, service providers, and other agency personnel.
- Ensure that the quality and quantity of services is consistent with contractual obligations and state regulations.
- Implement changes as directed in programs and activities to achieve efficiencies and improve overall program performance.
- Successful execution of programs and community events from inception to completion.
- Understand laws, regulations, and policies that apply to program objectives.
- Actively engage in CSC’s Results-Based Accountability framework, contributing to continuous learning, data-driven improvements, and sharing of best practices.
- Maintain client health records and document all services provided within 24 hours of service completion.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Reliable transportation (required)
- Ability to work some evening and weekend hours (required)
- Reside in the South Broward County area (required)
- Willingness to complete a mandatory, paid 30-hour training (If not already completed) (required)
- Must complete mandatory 500-hour practicum provided by CSC.
- Pass a background screening and drug test (required)
- Commitment to complete required CSC training, including self-care practices and strategies to mitigate risks of vicarious trauma.
- Mandatory participation in initial and ongoing CSC-funded professional development and certification processes relevant to the role.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
