You've mastered running a jobsite. Now you're ready to run the whole field operation — multiple crews, multiple scopes, and the site-wide decisions that make or break a project.
Prime Controls is hiring a General Superintendent — the top field leadership role on our projects, sitting one step below Construction Manager. This isn't a standard Superintendent seat. We're looking for someone who blends hands-on field authority with the planning, budgeting, and client-facing skills of a Construction Manager.
-
Total field authority — direct all on-site construction operations, including subordinate Superintendents, Foremen, and craft crews across electrical and I&C scopes
-
Look-ahead planning — build and drive 3-week and 90-day schedules, coordinate manpower loading, and sequence work across trades
-
Budget and production tracking — monitor labor hours, productivity, and cost-to-complete alongside project management; flag risks before they become overruns
-
Safety leadership — set the tone for a zero-incident culture and ensure compliance across every crew on site
-
Client and GC relationships — represent Prime Controls in owner meetings, coordination meetings, and day-to-day site interactions
-
Quality and turnover — drive installations to spec and lead a clean, documented handoff to commissioning
-
10+ years of electrical or instrumentation & controls construction experience, with 5+ years in field supervision
-
Experience directing multiple crews or multiple Superintendents on industrial projects (water/wastewater, manufacturing, energy, or similar)
-
Strong command of scheduling, production tracking, and field budgeting — you think like a Construction Manager, not just a crew lead
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications
-
OSHA 30 (or ability to obtain); NCCER, journeyman, or master electrician credentials a plus
-
Willingness to be on-site full time [+ travel expectations if applicable]
We're a family-owned systems integration and I&C construction firm — 1,100+ employees strong and growing across the South-Central U.S. Our field leaders aren't a number in a national org chart; they're known by name, backed by an in-house engineering and integration team, and given real authority to run their sites.
-
Stability — decades of steady growth, privately held, no private-equity churn
-
Backing — dedicated project management, engineering, and safety support behind every field leader
-
Career path — this role is the proving ground for Construction Manager
