Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Technician Apprentice and kick-start your career in heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance! Duties
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues using schematics, automotive electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Support the repair and maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, and HVAC components.
- Participate in the fabrication, assembly, and welding of parts or equipment as needed.
- Help perform routine vehicle maintenance such as tire service, air brake inspections, wheel alignments, and heavy equipment servicing.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers under supervision to gain practical experience.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform repairs on automotive and industrial machinery.
- Follow safety protocols during all repair activities and assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge with a strong interest in diesel mechanics and heavy equipment repair.
- Familiarity with dealership experience or automotive diagnostics is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Experience or interest in fabricating or welding metal components.
- Knowledge of heavy truck repair, farm machinery maintenance, or industrial equipment operation is advantageous.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment required for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients when needed.
- Willingness to learn new skills such as soldering, heavy lifting techniques, tire service, or electrical system repair.
