The Business Development Manager plays a critical role in driving the growth and success of our commercial construction company. With corporate strategic plan as guidance, this position focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building and nurturing client relationships, developing and expanding strategies to secure the company’s presence in the construction management, general contracting, and commercial development sectors. The ideal candidate is an experienced, dynamic, high energy, relationship-driven professional with a strong understanding of the company’s culture, the commercial construction industry and a proven track record.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in commercial construction management, general contracting, design-build, and commercial development projects.

Ability to execute strategic plans, with high-level company goals, to drive growth, profitability, and efficiency.

Research and analyze market trends, identify target audiences, internal strengths, competitor activities, and potential client needs to position the company competitively, while defining a unique value proposition.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, developers, and other key stakeholders.

Assist in preparing and delivering compelling presentations, proposals, and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs).

With assistance from the Marketing Department, create and execute sales and marketing strategies and campaigns, as well as deliver client prospect communications, designed to acquire high-value clients.
- Join trade associations, attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the company and generate new business opportunities.
- Collaborate and communicate with company leadership, project management and estimating teams to ensure alignment between business development efforts and operational capabilities.

Using customer relationship (CRM) tools, make informed, data-driven decisions. Using key performance indicators, track progress and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and sales metrics. Refine the strategy as needed.
- Create development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth projections. Provide well organized and documented monthly updates to leadership on progress and new opportunities.
- When requested by senior management, assist in contract negotiation and closing new business deals.

Develop annual goals in accordance with Burkey’s overall business development plan.

Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Marketing, Public Relations/Communications, or other related field required.

Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations within the commercial construction industry, preferred.
