Healthy New Albany is looking for someone who believes that the best classroom has no walls.
We're seeking an enthusiastic Nature Educator who loves introducing children and families to the outdoors through hands-on exploration, curiosity, and play. Whether you're leading a preschooler on a bug hunt or guiding school-age students on a creaking adventure, you'll help create experiences that build a lifelong appreciation for nature.

What You'll Do
- Lead engaging outdoor programs for children, families, and adults.
- Design and facilitate interactive experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration, and discovery.
- Create age-appropriate activities including sensory exploration, nature crafts, storytelling, games, and simple STEM investigations.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things.
- Encourage environmental stewardship by helping participants build meaningful connections with the natural world.
- Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, and learning styles.
- Prepare materials and assist with setup and cleanup before and after programs.
- Ensure programs are safe, engaging, and memorable for every participant.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has a genuine passion for nature and enjoys sharing that enthusiasm with others.
- Working with children and families.
- Can turn an ordinary walk in the woods into an exciting learning adventure.
- Is energetic, creative, and comfortable leading groups outdoors.
- Has experience in environmental education, outdoor recreation, parks, education, camps, scouting, natural resources, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Communicates well with participants of all ages.
- Is comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Can lift at least 35 pounds and transport program materials.

Schedule
- Approximately 4-15 hours per week, depending on the number of classes being taught and the season.
- Flexible schedule based on program offerings.
- Some evenings and weekends are required.
- Most programs take place outdoors in New Albany parks and other community green spaces.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
