We're a fast-moving startup looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own our Google Cloud environment. You'll design, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure that powers our applications, keeping it scalable, secure, and reliable as we grow. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you'll set the standards for how we build and operate on GCP, work directly with our engineering team, and have meaningful input on the tools we adopt.
If you like building solid foundations on cloud-native services, automating yourself out of repetitive work, and shipping infrastructure that just works, we'd love to talk.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage our Google Cloud infrastructure, including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), BigQuery, Firebase/Identity Platform, and related services
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments
- Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and scripting (Python, Bash)
- Containerize applications with Docker and manage container deployments on Cloud Run (or GKE where it makes sense)
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting so we catch issues before users do
- Harden our security posture: IAM, VPC and network segmentation, secrets management, service account hygiene
- Manage PostgreSQL operations on Cloud SQL, including migrations, backups, and performance tuning
- Partner with developers to support application architecture, deployment workflows, and production reliability
- Keep cloud spend predictable by right-sizing resources, catching waste early, and optimizing where it counts
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, IAM, VPC, Cloud Build)
- Solid scripting in Python and Bash; comfortable in Linux
- Infrastructure-as-code experience, ideally Terraform
- Docker and container deployment experience; Kubernetes/GKE a plus
- PostgreSQL administration (migrations, performance, backups)
- CI/CD pipeline experience (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- A security-first mindset. You think about access and blast radius before it becomes a problem
- Clear communication; you can explain infrastructure tradeoffs to engineers who don't live in the cloud console
Nice to Have
- Firebase / Identity Platform experience
- BigQuery and data pipeline experience
- Background working in a startup or small team where you wore multiple hats
- Familiarity deploying Node.js / TypeScript applications
- Cost optimization experience on GCP
